BLAST FROM THE PAST! (#1- Inspired by Art)

Hello again!

Today I have some pictures of designs that I have done in the past (hence the title)! It's a BLAST FROM THE PAST! This way I can show you the designs that I have done long ago, and of which I have pictures! A lot of the older (haha- probably only three or four years ago until almost present) pictures were taken with cell phone cameras, so they might not be the greatest quality shots. But I hope you enjoy them!

I think these are definitely more well-known artists than the previous abstract work, but try not to be too critical! :)

Monet-inspired: here's the painting!

Jackson Pollock-inspired accent nail! I left the design un-topcoated so as to preserve the rough texture. Not sure you can pick that up from the pic (or pic that up, if you enjoy puns as I do). Not inspired by a particular painting, but to see samples of his work, Google Image Search!

And, of course, perhaps the most famous painting in the world, Van Gogh's Starry Night. It is also one of the designs of which I am proudest and has taken me the longest to complete! (Somewhere around 4 hours!)

I hope you enjoyed this BLAST FROM THE PAST and thanks for viewing!

(i was trying out a new watermark, but i think I'll go back to the other one!)

Teal and Hex Glitter

Today I have an older design that I did with some loose hex glitter. I made some flowers for the main design, and for the accent nail I attempted a fishtail with many different colors of glitter, all atop a teal base. I think this design is both fun and simple, and the accent nail makes the whole thing pop!  Though it was very time consuming to fish out each individual hex glitter, I think it was worth the final result. What do you think?

[The color used in this design is China Glaze "For Audrey."]

Abstract Inspiration

For this design, I found inspiration in a beautiful yet random abstract wallpaper that I stumbled upon while browsing images. Each nail is taken from a different part of the painting, and despite the variety of colors, I think they manage to go well together. I have done some designs inspired by artists before, so once I locate those pictures, I'll be sure to share them! Thanks for viewing :)

Flowers and Dots!

I am SO excited!! This is my first post and I can't hardly believe it! I've been wanting to start a blog for the longest time! I guess we'll see where it goes :) Also, please bear with me as I figure out all of the formatting quirks on Blogger!

This design was inspired by a post on another blog, Brit Nails, who recently posted a look based on the "One Stroke Flower" technique. I decided that I also wanted to give it a try, but after looking at a tutorial on YouTube, I still didn't quite get the hang of it but went for it anyways! This was also my first experiment with using acrylic paint for nail art designs, and it was definitely a positive one and something that I will store in my arsenal for the future. Anyhow, I enjoyed creating this fun design and I think it's fun and somewhat sophisticated (at least from a distance). What do you think?

The base color is Deborah Lippmann "Billionaire" and the glitter polish is Cirque "XX". I tried to include a macro shot of XX, but it came out a little out of focus. Ah well. You can still catch the beauty of all those glitters up in there :P

Thank you for visiting :) I hope you like it!

P.S. If you're curious, "estival" is a technical adjective referring to "belonging to or appearing in summer." It was perfect for my blog, which I doubt will be able to continue regularly throughout the school year, so for now will just be summer fun :)
